Kids Can Dress in Pajamas For Polar Express-Themed Event
The Sealy Community Foundation’s Fantasy of Lights festival features the 3rd Annual Kids Fantasy event. For only $5 per child, families can enjoy a day full of festive holiday fun on Dec. 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Sealy’s Levine Park.
The Shepherd’s Way Church, LifeBridge Community Church, the First United Methodist Church of Sealy, the Sealy Family YMCA and the Sealy PTA each will host activities in the park, including arts and crafts, camel rides, a hamster ball, live snowfall, balloon artist, and a Polar Express-themed train ride. Santa will also make an appearance in the Levine Park Gazebo to hear all kids’ wishes for Christmas. Kids are encouraged to get into the Polar Express spirit and wear pajamas. Live entertainment will be featured on Main Street, including dancers from The Dance Warehouse of Sealy, local singers and a finale by the Christian City Band.
Patriotic weekend activities include a performance by country legend Steve Wariner, new VIP Tent, Kids’ Carnival, New Car Show, Bean Bag Tournament, BBQ Cookoff and Fun Run.
Sealy, Texas, July 3, 2014 - The Sealy Community Foundation brings first-class entertainment and family fun to Sealy’s 6th Annual Sealybration July 11-12, Sealy, TX. Grammy-award winning country legend Steve Wariner will headline the entertainment line-up and new festivities, such as the car show and VIP tent for the Saturday night concerts, will draw more than 10,000 attendees.
“Sealybration is always a highly anticipated event that brings the town together to celebrate our great country and to make family memories,” said Melanie Willingham, President of the Sealy Community Foundation. “The event’s proceeds go towards higher education scholarships for Sealy High School seniors, as well as donations to local non-profit organizations. We have given more than $19,000 to deserving seniors and organizations in the last six years. It’s rewarding to not only provide a fun festival for the city to enjoy, but to also serve a need while doing so.”
Sealybration kicks off Thursday, July 10 at 6 p.m. with family fun at the Kidzone carnival, which is open through Saturday night. The gates open at 6 p.m. Friday, July 11 and features food and retail vendors, the bean bag tournament, BBQ cook off and softball tournament. The 5 Alarm 5K and 1K Rookie fun runs are also held Friday night and benefit the Sealy Volunteer Fire Department. At 8 p.m. the musical entertainment gets started when The Triumphs hit the stage playing their 50s and 60s tunes.
The gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday for all day fun at the Kidzone carnival and the tractor show, new car show, chicken bingo and softball tournament. Musical entertainment starts at 5 p.m. with Fred Rusk and the Zydeco Hi-Steppers. Local up-and-coming Texas music artists, The Washers, take the stage next with Steve Wariner up at 11:30 p.m. A spectacular fireworks show will light up the night sky at 9:15 p.m.
A new feature this year is Saturday night’s VIP tent where for $60 attendees enjoy red carpet treatment, including reserved parking close to the venue, seats in a private tent in front of the stage, a catered meal, five free beer tokens, private restrooms and an unrestricted view of the fireworks. Also, all VIP ticket holders will be entered in a drawing to attend a meet-and-greet with country legend Steve Wariner.
Admission for Friday, July 11 is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12, and 5 and under are free with festival hours running from 6 p.m. until midnight. Saturday, July 12 entry is $10 for adults from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and $15 from 5 p.m. until close.
Children 6-12 are $5, and 5 and under are free all day. Early combo passes are available for $20 and include entry for both days. The early combo passes and the VIP tickets are available at Sealy City Hall, Sealy Chamber of Commerce, Citizens State Bank, Ranch Country Homes and Riverside Tire Center. In addition, discounted carnival passes are available for $15 per day before the event. They will cost $20 at the event.

The 5th annual BBQ cook-off begins July 11 with awards announced the afternoon of July 12. The entry fee is $100 for brisket, pork spare ribs, and chicken with a $10 jackpot per entry for margarita, chef’s choice and pinto beans. Prizes include showmanship; $150 for first place in each category; $125 for second place; and $100 for third; as well as $400 for grand champion; and $200 reserve overall. Register now for the tractor show and parade. Check-in begins July 12 at 9 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with judging at 1 p.m. There is no entry fee. The first annual Sealybration Car Show will be held July 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of historic Liedertafel Hall at 116 Lux Road in Sealy. 3rd Annual 5 Alarm 5K and 1K Fun Runs
Join in the fun and run to help raise money for the Sealy Volunteer Fire Department at the 5 Alarm 5k and 1K on July 11, 2014 starting at 8:30 p.m. Early registration is now open through July 6 and is $15 for 12 and under, $20 for students running the 5K, and $25 for all others. Each participant receives a t-shirt and is eligible for awards based on age. Also, new is this year is the ability to honor a fire fighter with an “In Memory of” or “In Honor of” sponsorship of at least $50. Their name will appear on the run t-shirt and advertising. Wariner is famous for more than 30 top 10 hits and 14 no. 1 hits including “Some Fools Never Learn,” “The Weekend” and “Holes in the Floor of Heaven.” He has teamed up with the likes of Chet Atkins, Brad Paisley, and Vince Gill to write award-winning songs. He has won four Grammys with his most recent in 2010 for a tribute to Chet Atkins.
