The 33rd Annual Christmas Festival Features Live Entertainment; Softball Tournament; All-Day Kids Fun including a Zip Line and an Exotic Bird Show; 5K and 1K Fun Runs; Lighted Parade
The Sealy Community Foundation kicks off the holiday season with Sealy’s 33rd Annual Fantasy of Lights festival Dec. 6 - 7, 2019. The weekend’s theme celebrates Christmas in the Caribbean and is packed with activities for all ages including live entertainment, specialty booths, a 5K and 1K fun run benefiting the Sealy PTA, the Snowball Classic softball tournament, pageants, and the annual Kids Fantasy in the park with crafts, live snowfall and a visit from Santa himself. It’s all capped off with a lighted parade Saturday evening.
“The Fantasy of Lights festival has become a tradition to many Sealy residents who look forward to kicking off the Christmas season at this fun event,” said Melanie Willingham, President of the Sealy Community Foundation. “It’s a weekend with some-thing for everyone and many opportunities to share in the Christmas spirit with family and friends. We are very excited to announce that we are featuring a zipline for the first time. This zip line was selflessly sponsored by Bal-con Builders. Another addition will be an Exotic Bird Show and trust me, you don’t want to miss it! We are grateful for Cliff Jones RV/Tractor. This festival just keeps getting better and better due to our amazing volunteers and generous sponsors. We hope to see everyone at Fantasy of Lights as we celebrate the 33rd year of this special festival!”
Many of the events directly benefit local kids. The Snowball Softball Tournament asks for donations of toys with entry fees to be donated to the Sealy Christian Food Pantry. The proceeds from the 14th Annual Jingle Bell Fun Run go to the Sealy and Selman PTA.
Early Saturday, kids, families and athletes will line up for the Jingle Bell 1K and 5K fun runs, which benefit the Sealy and Selman PTA. This year, kids 12 and under can participate in the Blizzard Blitz, where kids race in both the 1K and the 5K for a special prize and bragging rights. For several years now, the Jingle Bell Fun Run has given thousands of dollars to Selman and Sealy PTA.
The Kids Fantasy event is $5 per child and runs 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Levine Park. Kids can play in real snow with a large slide for kids and adults alike, ride a zip line, make arts and crafts, and much more. Santa himself will also make an appearance in Levine Park’s Gazebo. While the kids play, cruise around the square to shop and enjoy some tasty food and hot chocolate as the specialty booths set up shop around Levine Park on Dec. 7, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Also, throughout the day local live entertainment will be featured on Main Street, including dance recitals, Tiger Stage Company performers, Exotic Bird Show, singers and the Christian City Band. After a day of fun, enjoy the festive tree lighting after dark and sit back and marvel as the Christmas in the Caribbean themed lighted parade makes its way through town.
